Police seek public’s help in Kurtistown art, jewelry theft

Hawaii Island police are investigating an Oct.14 theft in Kurtistown and are seeking public help.

An oil slick painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat and miscellaneous jewelry were removed from a residence on 40th Avenue in Kurtistown.

Police ask anyone with information about the theft to contact Detective Jeremy Kubojiri of the Area I Criminal Investigation Section at 961-2378, or via email at Jeremy.Kubojiri@hawaiicounty.gov or the police department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the island-wide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00.
