One person was injured while escaping a structure fire Friday night in Kalopa Mauka.
Responding to the 11:45 p.m. alarm, firefighters arrived at the Kalopa Mauka Road scene to find a single-family home engulfed in flames, according to the Hawaii Fire Department.
The lone occupant of the home was able to escape, however, suffered injuries. Medics treated and transported the victim to the hospital for care while firefighters doused the flames.
The fire was declared out at 1:36 a.m. Saturday.
The fire department said the cause of the fire was an open flame being used for lighting.
