James Mimaki
James “Jim” Masato Mimaki, 87, of Hilo died Aug. 24 at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired English instructor at Hawaii Community College, formerly employed at the University of Hawaii-Hilo and Department of Education, a docent at the Pacific Tsunami Museum, volunteer bonsai instructor at the Kamana Senior Center, served as board director and chairman of HICUL, BICUL &BIBA, received the Japanese Community Association of Hawaii Cultural Treasure Recognition for Bonsai in 2013 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Services will be held at a later date. Family requests no flowers and no koden (monetary gifts).
He is survived by wife, Keiko Konishi Mimaki of Hilo; daughter, Debi (Kip) Yamamoto of Kealakekua; grandson, Brant Yamamoto of Honolulu; sister, Emiko Hamakawa of Hilo; brothers, Harold Mimaki of Hilo, Harry Mimaki of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dale Nakayama
Dale Keiko Nakayama, 74, of Keaau, died Aug. 17, 2020 at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 4, 1946, in Hilo, she was retired from Calavo Growers as an administrative clerk and was a member of the Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.
Private services held. Family requests no flowers and no koden (monetary gifts).
She is survived by sons, Jason Nakayama and Kevin (Jamilyn) Nakayama of Keaau; granddaughter, Jayla Nakayama of Oregon; sisters, Olga Hayashi of Hilo and Lynn (Ellison) Ancheta of Keaau; numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Alice Kobayashi
Alice Haruko Kobayashi, 94, of Hilo and formerly of Ookala, died Aug. 17, 2020 at Life Care Center of Hilo. She was born Jan. 17, 1926, in Paauilo.

She is survived by sons, Wesley (Marlene) Kobayashi, Donald (Joanne) Kobayashi, Ronnie Kobayashi and Warren (Lydia) Kobayashi, all of Los Angeles, and Gordon (Lori) Kobayashi of Hilo; sister, Lillian Keone of Honolulu; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Agrifino Coloma Jr.
Agrifino D. “Boogie” Coloma Jr., 69, of Papaikou, died Aug. 6, 2020 at Hilo Medical Center. Born March 29, 1951, in Hilo, he was a security guard and member of the Living Waters Assembly of God in Honomu.

He is survived by daughters, Terrilynn Coloma of Papaikou and Sherry Coloma of Arizona; numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Nobuyuki Kiyota
Nobuyuki Smiley Kiyota, 98, of Hilo, died Aug. 25, 2020 at home. Born March 16, 1922, in Onomea, he was the retired proprietor for the former Smiley’s Super Service, a custodian at KTA Super Stores Puainako and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Big Island Automotive Trades Association.

He is survived by wife, Sue Kiyota of Hilo; son, William Kiyota of Hilo; daughter, Laurie (Danny) Kikuchi of Pepeekeo; sisters, Jean Nekoba of Hilo, Lynn Chiyoko Koenig of Post Falls, Idaho, and Margaret Matthews of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; nieces and nephews.

Shigeto Setoda
Shigeto “Toto” Setoda, 95, of Hilo, died Aug. 29, 2020 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born April 26, 1925, in Hilo, he was retired from Bank of Hawaii, a U.S. Army World War II veteran and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.

He is survived by wife, Yaeko Setoda of Hilo; brothers, Thomas Setoda of Hilo, Raymond (Aileen) Setoda of Los Angeles, and Roy (Dodie) Setoda of Portland, Ore.; nieces and nephews.
