State health officials on Saturday reported 310 new cases of COVID-19, bringing Hawaii’s total case count to 8,139.
Of Saturday’s new cases, 263 were on Oahu, 39 were on Hawaii Island and seven were on Maui, and one on Kauai according to the Hawaii COVID-19 Joint Information Center. One previous case was removed due to updated laboratory information.
Of the 8,139 known cases since Feb. 28, some 5,662 of those cases are still considered active. That includes 152 of the known cases on the Big Island.
To date, Oahu has recorded the majority of the state’s positive cases at 7,410 cases. Maui County has recorded 330 cases, Hawaii County 318 and Kauai County 567. Twenty-four residents have tested positive while out of the state.
Statewide, 6% of COVID-19 patients have required hospitalization, including 13 on Hawaii Island, according to the center’s noon update. Hilo Medical Center reported 17 were admitted as of Saturday morning, with four patients in ICU.
The center also announced Saturday three new coronavirus-related deaths, all on Oahu, bringing the state’s death toll to 62.
Of the 62 deaths reported among Hawaii residents, 53 were on Oahu, eight were on Maui and one was a Kauai resident receiving treatment in Arizona at the time he died.
