Jeanette Maesaka
Jeanette Akiko Maesaka, 80, of Hilo died Aug. 6, 2020, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Hospice Facility. Born in Kealakekua, she was a retired executive assistant for American Electric.
Services will be held at a later date.
She is survived by son, Guy (Cherie) Maesaka of Beaverton, Oregon; daughter, Jill (Scot) Marker of Henderson, Nevada; sisters, Margie (Stan) Orimoto of Pearl City, Setsuko Wheeler of Oahu; brother, Sueto Matsumura of Kealakekua; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Genevieve Wheeler
Genevieve “Tootsie” Wheeler, 77, of Captain Cook, Hawaii, died August 8, 2020 at her residence. Born Aug. 16, 1942, in Kealakekua, she was a night auditor at the former Kona Surf resort, a loan officer for First Hawaiian Bank, and a manager for an escrow company.
Private services will be held.
She is survived by son, James (Carlton Hudson) Wheeler of Silver Springs, MD; brother, Arthur Roy Gouveia of Captain Cook; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; an several aunts and an uncle.

Lesley Carter
Lesley Lorraine Carter, 55, of Keaau, passed away on August 1, 2020 at Pohai Malama. She was born in Anchorage Alaska. She was the owner and operated of L &L Construction for 30 years. She was a member of the Fleet Reserve Assoc. Branch 46 Honolulu.

Joseph Branco
Joseph “Joe” Gonsalves Branco, 93, of Honokaa, died July 26, 2020 at home. Born Feb. 1, 1927 in Kalopa, he was a retired harvesting supervisor for the former Hamakua Sugar Co., a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa and a former member Of the Holy Name Hamakua Coast Church.

He is survived by wife, Mary Branco of Honokaa; daughters, Donna (Rogers) De Luz of Paauilo and Sandra (Gordon) Dias of Honokaa; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Andrew Kulilikaua “Warrior for Queen Liliuokalani” Dean Miles, 33, of Kapoho, died June 28, 2020, at Hilo Medical Center. He was born Feb. 23, 1987 in Hilo.

Bryan Tonga
Bryan Tonga, 27, of Hilo, died Aug. 8, 2020 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 21, 1992, in Pohnpei, Micronesia, he was a graduate student at the University of Hawaii at Hilo Tropical Conservation Biology and Environmental Science Program.

He is survived by mother, Cathleen (Conrad Andrew) Tonga; father, Derson (Priscilla Noah) Maruame; grandmother, Mary Tonga; five brothers; and two sisters.

Alice K. Fujimoto, 93, of Hilo, died July 29, 2020, at home. She was born in Hilo and was a homemaker and member of the Church of the Holy Cross.

Everette Souza
Everette Lloyd Souza, 72, of Honokaa, died July 20, 2020, at home. He was born in Honokaa and was a foreman with Hawaiian Electric, a member of the Honokaa Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the Hamakua Lions Club, was a 4H leader and former County of Hawaii Liquor Commissioner.
Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 22 at Honokaa Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for a 9:30 a.m. eulogy and 10 a.m. Mass. Burial will follow at the Souza family plot in Honokaa.
He is survived by wife, Clydean Souza of Honokaa; sons, Scott (Nancy) Souza and Shawn (Desha) Souza of Honokaa; daughter, Stephanie (Ignacio) Aguilar of Honokaa; brother, John Roy (Velma) Souza of Honokaa; sister, Debbie (Dwight) Vicente of Hilo; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
