Lanakila Mangauil and Keola Lindsey will face off in the November general election to become the next Hawaii Resident Trustee on the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.
Mangauil were the top two recipients of votes in Saturday’s primary election for the trustee representing the Big Island. A total of 11 candidates contended for the position.
Mangauil received 8,345 of the 41,001 votes cast in the race, or 20.3%, to Lindsey’s 7,260 votes.
The Office of Hawaiian Affairs Board of Trustees is composed of nine members who are elected to serve four-year terms. Four of the seats are “at-large” while the remaining five seats represent Hawaii, Maui, Molokai, Oahu, and Kauai.
All voters statewide are allowed to vote in each OHA contest.
