Nephi’s Smokehouse on Saturday hosted its inaugural Back to School event providing backpacks and school supplies for keiki now set to be back in the classroom Aug. 17.

The special event was held in memory of restaurant owner Nephi Agustin’s nephews, Dexen and Kaeden Matsuyama. Dexen, 6, and Kaeden, 11, died in a tragic fire that destroyed the family’s home in 2015. The boys were both students at Holualoa Elementary School.
