Voter registration still available

It’s not too late to register and vote in the Saturday, Aug. 8, primary election.

Voters may go in person to one of the Voter Service Centers located on Hawaii Island, according to the League of Women Voters Hawaii County. The service centers can be found at the County of Hawaii Aupuni Center in Hilo and at the West Hawaii Civic Center in Kailua-Kona.

The centers are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Aug. 7, and on election day, Saturday, Aug. 8. The centers provide voter registration and voting; drop off of ballots; accessible voting machines; correction of voter registration problems; and replacement of lost or damaged ballots.

There are also six drop boxes located on the island that are open 24 hours a day until 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8. They are located at Naalehu Police Station, Pahoa Police Station, Rodney Yano Hall in Captain Cook, Waimea Police Station, and also at each Voter Service Center.

For more information, call the Election Division at (808) 961-8277.
