State health officials announced 28 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing Hawaii’s total number of cases to 1,158.
Twenty-five of the new cases were on Oahu with one case each on Hawaii Island, Kaui and Maui, according to the COVID-19 Joint Information Center. One case was diagnosed among a Hawaii resident while out of the state.
To date, Oahu has recorded most of the cases with 867 positive tests, followed by Maui County with 131 cases, Hawaii County with 98 and Kauai County with 43.
Of the Hawaii residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 847 of those cases have since recovered and been released from isolation. That includes 89 of the 98 cases on Hawaii Island.
Statewide, 125 patients have required hospitalization, including three on Hawaii Island.
Of the 19 deaths reported in Hawaii, 13 were on Oahu and six were on Maui.
