Choruses combine for virtual sing-along
Na Puukani, a combination of the Kona Choral Society and Oahu’s Windward Choral Society, invites the community to take part or simply enjoy its first Virtual Patriotic Family Sing-Along from 5 to 6 p.m. today.
Na Puukani, which translated means “the sweet-voiced singers and merry music makers,” is opening the Zoom sing-along to the public to the celebrate the Fourth of July. This one-hour live streamed event will include songs like “America, the Beautiful,” “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “We Shall Overcome” and “Hawaii Aloha”
To help off-set ongoing chorus expenses, tax deductible donations will be accepted that evening. Donations to Kona Choral Society can be made at www.konachoralsociety.org and to Windward Choral Society at https://www.thewindwardchoralsociety.org.

Kahilu Theatre’s executive director steps down
The Kahilu Theatre Board of Directors recently announced the stepping down of Deborah Goodwin from the role of Kahilu Theatre executive director.
Effective July 1, Mimi Kerley, who has been the president of the board since 2012, will take over as interim executive director. Sherman Warner, who is currently the board’s vice president, will assume the role of board president.
“We, the Board of Directors, feel confident that our leadership team will effectively navigate these unusual times and set us up for success in our 40th anniversary season as Kahilu prepares to eventually open its doors once again. We are grateful to Mimi and Sherm for making sure we don’t skip a beat,” the board said in a message to members.
