Several explosions rattled South Kona Thursday evening when the U.S. Army detonated dynamite that had been found in Honaunau.
Residents reported hearing four explosions around 5:45 p.m. when the U.S. Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit detonated dynamite that had been found in a barn, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
The dynamite was located by family of an elderly man who had recently died.
No injuries were reported.
