Libraries offer public computer use by reservation
Starting today, the Hawaii State Public Library System (HSPLS) will offer access to public computers by reservation at all library branches.
Resuming access to the public computers is part of the system’s phased reopening of library services as Hawaii carefully begins to get back to business amid the ongoing threat of COVID-19. Library buildings will only be open for library patrons with computer reservations.
Library patrons may reserve one 60-minute computer session per day using the library’s computer reservation system at www.librarieshawaii.org or by calling the library branch they would like to visit. Unreserved appointment times will be offered for walk-ups on a first come, first served basis. Library patrons are limited to a total of no more than two sessions per day.
All library patrons entering the building will be required to follow basic health protocols including wearing a face covering, which covers their nose and mouth while visiting the library. The equipment and high touch areas will be cleaned after each computer session is completed.
Library Take Out services will continue to be offered at all locations. No book donations will be accepted at this time.

Coffee association presents 2020
Webinar Series
The Hawaii Coffee Association Webinar Series will be provided June 24-25 as a free resource for its association members and the broader community.
Each session is designed to provide important updates on the effects of the pandemic on the Hawaii coffee industry and on the coffee industry at large. In addition, the series addresses other useful topics to inform coffee professionals of changing trends and regulations.
On June 24, the speaker lineup of educational presentations and topics includes an opening message from association president Chris Manfredi; Mackenzie Batali of UC Davis Coffee Center discussing “The Impact of Time, Temperature, and Extraction on the Sensory Quality of Drip Brew Coffee”; a coffee scoring systems panel featuriung Kim Westerman of Coffee Review, Shawn Steiman of Coffea Consulting, Brittany Horn and Madeleine Longoria Garcia of Pacific Coffee Research; an update from Andrea Kawabata and Shannon Sand on 2019-20 College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR) Research and Extension; and a Synergistic Hawaii Agriculture Council Update from Suzanne Shriner.
On June 25, Joan Obra of Rusty’s Hawaiian and Marcus Young of Boot Coffee will discuss Hawaii in the Global Market; Madeleine Longoria Garcia, Marcus Boni and Nathanael May will provide a Specialty Coffee Association U.S. Chapter update; Phyllis Shimabukuro-Geiser chairperson of the Hawaii Department of Agriculture will also provide an update followed by Brenda Iokepa-Moses discussing USDA Rural Development Programs.
