A woman was arrested for attempted murder Saturday when she crashed her vehicle into a moped on Kuakini Highway.

Police on the scene said the woman driving a sedan allegedly rammed the moped carrying two riders, a male and female just south of Makala Blvd intentionally.

Off duty EMS personnel who were volunteering at the tiny house build at Old Kona Airport Park were the first to respond to the crash scene.

The male was transported to Kona Community Hospital in critical condition and later flown to Honolulu for treatment. The female rider was transported and reported in serious condition.

No other details were available as of press time Saturday.
