A 71-year-old Waimea man is facing a burglary charge after police say he broke into a South Kohala business and removed bottles of alcohol.
A 71-year-old Waimea man is facing a burglary charge after police say he broke into a South Kohala business and removed bottles of alcohol.
The Hawaii Police Department said officers responded at 4:38 a.m. Monday to an alarm at a business establishment on Kawaihae Road in Waimea. Upon arrival, officers discovered the rear window to the establishment was damaged and removed and the rear exit door, which was previously locked, was now open.
“It was determined that various bottles of alcoholic beverages were removed from the establishment,” a press release from the department reads.
Officers reviewed video surveillance and identified the suspect as Hall. After conducting an extensive search in the Waimea area, Hall was located and taken into custody.
He was subsequently charged with burglary and prohibited acts in violation of Gov. David Ige’s emergency order issued March 25. Bail was set $5,500 pending his initial court appearance.
