Two arrested for violating stay-at-home order

Between May 20 and Tuesday, Hawaii Police Department officers arrested two people and cited three for “prohibited acts” in violation of Gov. David Ige’s stay-at-home order, according to statistics released Wednesday afternoon by the Hawaii Police Department.

The arrests were made in Kona and Puna while the citations were issued in Puna, South Kohala and Ka‘u, according to the department.

Violation of the stay-at-home order is a misdemeanor offense that carries up to a year in jail and a fine of no more than $5,000. Since the start of the stay-at-home order at 12:01 a.m. March 25, Hawaii Police Department officers have arrested 100 and issued 240 citations.
