Just one new case was identified Tuesday in the state on Oahu, bringing the statewide case total to 635.
That case was identified in a traveler at the airport, state Department of Health Director Bruce Anderson told the House Finance Committee late Tuesday.
“That person was identified at the airport,” Anderson said. “What we’re doing is working.”
Of the cases statewide, 563 people have recovered and been released from isolation, according to the department.
On Hawaii Island, 75 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus since Feb. 28. All of the cases had been released from isolation as of noon Tuesday, according to the department. One person required hospitalization.
Case totals for Oahu increased to at 411 while Maui and Kauai counties remained at 117 and 21, respectively.
Eleven of the cases are Hawaii residents diagnosed outside the state of Hawaii.
Statewide, the coronavirus-related death toll stands at 17 — 11 on Oahu and six on Maui.
Hawaii has been under a statewide stay-at-home order since the last week of March to slow the spread of the disease. Since the same week, it has also been requiring all those arriving in the state and traveling between the islands to observe 14 days of quarantine. The now-termed “safer-at-home” order remains in effect through the end of May.
