COVID-19 Kokua Project launched
The Tante and Araceli Urban Foundation in partnership with Big Island businesses and organizations has launched the “COVID-19 Kokua Project.”
The foundation in partnership with 808 Building Maintenance, Broke da Mouth Grindz Bar &Grill, CIASI, Filipino Organization of Kona, Hawaii Sober Living &Recovery Center, Hirako Farm, and UH Healthcare LLC created the project to distribute food items to the community amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The project has already distributed bagged food and produce in Kailua-Kona. The next food distribution will take place from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday at Waikoloa Baptist Church in Waikoloa Village. The foundation and its partners said they plan to continue the COVID-19 Kokua Project islandwide for as long as it’s necessary.

Kiwanis Club awards scholarship
Hawaii Technology Academy student Jordyn Picadura is this year’s recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from the Kiwanis Club of Kailua-Kona.
Picadura plans to attend the University of Hawaii and major in biology to pursue a medical degree, according to the club. She was also the recipient of the 2020 Kenneth C. Forror, MD, $1,000 scholarship awarded by the Kiwanis Cal-Ne-Va foundation.
Picadura is the daughter of Joshua and Sara Kobayashi.
