Hawaiian Solar and Plumbing pays it forward
Hawaiian Solar and Plumbing recently donated $20,000 to The Food Basket, Hawaii Island’s lone food bank, to help feed the island’s hungry.
Owner Ken Bloom said the contribution is a way of paying if forward to the community that has been generous to him and supported his business for 40-plus years.
Bloom, who’s contributed to many different community projects over the years, felt donating to The Food Basket during these uncertain times would “make the biggest difference and have the most immediate impact.”
BOH Foundation donates to HCF
The Bank of Hawaii Foundation recently made a $3 million donation to Hawaii Community Foundation’s Hawaii Resilience Fund, which was established by HCF and the Omidyar Ohana Fund to address the growing social and economic impacts of COVID-19 in Hawaii.
Through the Hawaii Resilience Fund, the Bank of Hawaii Foundation, along with its executives and board of directors, will contribute $1 million to address the health and safety of the community; feed and nourish the community; and enable economic revitalization.
CPB Foundation donates to #KeepHawaiiCooking
In less than a week’s time, families got on board with Central Pacific Bank and Central Pacific Bank Foundation’s #KeepHawaiiCooking initiative to achieve its goal of 10,000 meals shared with the community, by splitting the bill and covering 50% of the tab for food ordered from favorite local restaurants.
The program, which launched March 27, reached its initial goal to reimburse a total of $100,000 for takeout, drive-through, and home delivered meals from participating restaurants in just three days. #KeepHawaiiCooking was extended to allow for even more participation, by committing to 10,000 meals, totaling more than $300,000 in donations by April 1.
#KeepHawaiiCooking is an initiative launched by the Central Pacific Bank Foundation. The program aims to help residents in our community stretch their food dollars further and is also rooted in a commitment to supporting small businesses in Hawaii, especially hard-hit restaurants to not only survive but more importantly thrive again once we get through the coronavirus crisis.
