Traffic signal and signage work is planned Tuesday and Thursday at two major intersections in West Hawaii.
The work, according to the Hawaii County Department of Public Work, will “facilitate improved traffic flow for right hand turns at key Kona intersections.”
On Tuesday, crews will be working on the signal at Palani Road at Henry Street/Ane Keohokalole Highway in Kailua-Kona. From 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather conditions permitting, overhead work will take place to replace traffic signal heads and signage will be installed on traffic signal poles at the northeastern and southeastern corners of the intersection, according to the county.
On Thursday, crews will be working at the intersection of Highway 11 and Napoopoo Road/Mamalahoa Highway Bypass from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather conditions permitting. Work at the South Kona intersection includes replacing overhead traffic signal heads, installing signage at the northwestern corner of the intersection and removing and replacing other signage.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution in the work zone and traffic control personnel will present to direct traffic.
