Felipe Gebin

Felipe B. Gebin, 78, of Captain Cook, died Feb. 19, 2020 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 13, 1941, in Binalonan, Pangasinan, Philippines, he was a macadamia nut picker, and a sugar cane worker in Keaau.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. March 14 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Honaunau for Mass. Casual attire; flowers welcome.

He is survived by wife, Feliciana Gebin of Captain Cook; sons, Lester (Aliza McKeigue) Gebin of Ocean View, Bradley Gebin and Billy Gebin of Kealakekua; brothers, Avelino (Violeta) Gebin of Hilo, Jeffrey Gebin of Honolulu; sisters, Rosalyn (Pablo) Martinez of Texas, May (Edward) Gebin Smiythe of Honolulu; one grandson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Paul Teramoto

Paul Teramoto, 59, of Holualoa, died Feb. 7, 2020 at Life Care Center of Kona. Born Feb. 23, 1960, in Ka‘u, he was the proprietor of Paul’s Place in Holualoa, and a U.S. Army veteran.

Friends may call at 2 p.m. March 21 at Daifukuji Soto Mission in Honalo for a 3 p.m. service. Casual attire; no flowers.

He is survived by brothers, Curt (Dorothy) Teramoto, Don (Kathy) Teramoto, Lance (Deana) Teramoto; three uncles; an aunt; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary Taylor

Mary Cynthia Taylor, 80, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 25, 2020 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 25, 1940, in Chester, Pennsylvania, she was a clinical nurse and a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 1 p.m. March 12 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church for Mass. Refreshments will be held on the church’s lanai. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Diaper Ministry, Anti Human Trafficking Ministry, Food, Pantry, Malama Na Keiki Back Pack program and the Sharing Garden.

She is survived by husband, Gilbert Taylor of Kailua-Kona; brother, Daniel (Patricia) Miller of New York; sister, Angela (Russell Glover) Miller of New York; step daughters, Lisa Taylor Cahill, Linda Taylor of the mainland; one granddaughter; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ronald Okazaki

Ronald Takehiko Okazaki, 84, of Hilo, died Feb. 17, 2020 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born May 1, 1935, in Hilo, he was a retired Laupahoehoe High School Industrial Arts teacher and owner of Lehua Greens Nursery.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. March 20 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Dora Okazaki of Hilo; sons, Lloyd (Karen) Okazaki and Keith Okazaki of Mililani, Oahu, Carl (Ji) Okazaki of San Francisco; sister, Jean Lym of San Jose, Calif.; brother, Ernest (Annabelle) Okazaki of Hawaii Kai, Oahu; four grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Sonya McMullen

Sonya Kay McMullen, 82, of Hilo, died March 4, 2020 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Feb. 14, 1938, in Miami, she was retired.

She is survived by son, Karl Brown Jr. of Florida; daughters, Suzanne (Rick) Fadely of Florida and Kirsten (Len) Dionisio of Hilo.

Wayne Awai

Wayne Lopaka Keikekanehaenalu Awai, 48, of Waikoloa, died Feb. 28, 2020 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Nov. 20, 1971 in Hilo, he was a line cook for various restaurants.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 15 at Puhi Bay for a service.

He is survived by sons, Chalen (Victoria Hufford) Awai-Sagon, Chyran (Carli Anne Sugimoto) Awai and Chandon Awai, all of Waikoloa and Kaiea Awai of Hilo; parents, Daisy Mae (Rudolph) Kamohai of Hilo and Wayne (Kathy) Awai of Waikoloa; brothers, John Awai of Florida, Chad Awai of Kailua-Kona, Nathan Awai of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Kanoa Awai of Kailua-Kona and Kai Awai of Kailua-Kona; maternal grandmother, Daisy Naihe of Hilo; four grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
