Fire officials are investigating the cause of a Wednesday afternoon residential structure fire in Puna.
Responding to the 5:35 p.m. report, firefighters arrived at 11-2936 Pikake St. in Fern Acres to find a 600-square-foot single-story, wooden structure engulfed in flames, according a press release from the Hawaii Fire Department.
Firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to surrounding brush and had the fire under control within 10 minutes of arriving at the scene, according to the department.
No injuries were reported and the dwelling was not occupied at the time, according to the department.
The structure fire is the third to occur on Pikake Street in recent weeks. On Tuesday, a 600-square-foot structure at 11-2956 Pikake St. was burned to the ground. Two weeks prior, another structure on the same property also burned down.
