Surf heights of 6 to 9 feet are forecast for the Kona, Kohala and Ka‘u coasts through 6 a.m. Friday, Honolulu-based National Weather Service forecasters said Thursday afternoon.
Boaters are advised that breaking waves may occasionally impact harbors making navigating the harbor channel dangerous. Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
A new large northwest swell will fill is expected to fill in Friday night and will likely bring warning-level surf on Saturday, forecasters cautioned.
