Fire officials are investigating the cause of a Monday evening fire that destroyed a single-family residence in Keaau.
Responding to the 5:04 p.m. alarm, firefighters arrived at 11-2956 Pikake St. to find a residence engulfed in flames, according to a Hawaii Fire Department media release. Access to the structure was hindered by an energized powerline blocking the driveway until Hawaiian Electric crews de-energized the powerline.
Once able to reach the structure, firefighters got the fire under control by 5:38 p.m. and distinguished it several minutes later.
The department noted that a neighbor called 911 to report the fire. No injuries were reported.
