West Hawaii beaches closed due to ocean conditions, debris cleanup

Hawaii County Civil Defense reports a handful of West Hawaii beaches are closed Thursday due to rough ocean conditions and/or debris cleanup.

Closed are Mahukona Beach Park Wharf in North Kohala; Spencer Park at Ohaiula Beach, Kaunaoa Beach, and Mauumae Beach in South Kohala; and Laaloa and Kahaluu beach parks in North Kona.

Hapuna State Recreation Area and Kua Bay remain open, Civil Defense said.
