KAILUA-KONA — Motorists should expect delays in the Kailua-Kona area Saturday evening during the 35th annual Kailua-Kona Community Christmas Parade.
Road closures will go in effect about 5 p.m. for the parade that will travel from Kekuaokalani Gymnasium to Walua Road, via Kuakini Highway, Palani Road and Alii Drive.
During the closures, traffic will not travel on Kuakini Highway between the gym and its intersection with Palani Road. Motorists will also not be able to traverse Palani Road between Kuakini Highway and Kailua Pier. Alii Drive will be closed between the pier and Walua Road.
Roads will reopen when the parade ends around 7:30 p.m.
The annual lighted parade presented by The Kailua-Kona Community Parade Association and the Rotary Clubs of West Hawaii features nearly 50 entrants this year. The grand marshal this year is Robert Leopoldino.
