KAILUA-KONA — More than 8,000 citations have been issued by police since August amid enhanced traffic enforcement efforts on Daniel K. Inouye Highway near Maunakea Access Road and the Thirty Meter Telescope protest.
Since Aug. 15, the Hawaii Police Department has issued 8,013 citations and arrested 74 people for 135 offenses, according to a press release issued Friday morning.
In the past week, police issued 336 citations and arrested three people for three offenses.
