Richard Petty
Richard E. Petty, 76, died Oct. 15, 2019, in Hilo. Born Sept. 21, 1943, in Raton, N.M., he dabbled in many work areas and lived in several states. He provided support services for clients at Care Hawaii.
Richard is survived by son, Michael (Mindy) Petty; daughter, Rachel (Justin) Lowe; sister, Debe; his companion Charlie (Charlene Garrett); five grandchildren and numerous cousins.

Cori Lee Chin
Cori Lee Chin, 38, of Hilo, died on Oct. 25, 2019, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born on March 16, 1981, in Hilo, she was a pharmacy technician for Walgreens, a former cashier for Sack ‘n Save Puainako; and a former head cashier for Home Depot.
Visitation will be held from 5-6 p.m. Nov. 4 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo. Celebration of life at 6 p.m. Casual attire.

Geri Shindo
Geri Shinako Shindo, 84, of Hilo died on Sept. 29, 2019, at the Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Hilo, she was a retired secretary at Hilo Mechanical, Inc. and a member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.
Friends may call 3:30-5 p.m. Nov. 2 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 5 p.m. memorial service. Casual attire. Family requests no flower and no monetary gifts.

Christina Lewis
Christina Lynn Lewis, 50, of Waikoloa, died Oct. 24, 2019, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born in Charleston, Ill., she was formerly in sales and marketing with the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel.
Memorial services are being planned for the spring of 2020.
She is survived by companion, Jeb Goss of Waikoloa; mother, Mary (Rick Capaldi) Lewis of Laguna Beach, Calif.; father, Martin Gene (Mary) Lewis of Springfield, Ill.; brother, Jarrod (Shelbi) Lewis of Dana Point, Calif.; paternal grandfather, Adren Lewis of Danville, Ill.; an uncle and an aunt, a cousin and two nephews.

Alison Aki
Alison Kalanipoo Aki, 68, of Waimea, died Oct. 7, 2019, at her residence. Born Dec. 30, 1950, in Honolulu, she was a residential manager at Mauna Kea Resorts and a former head housekeeper.

Kurt Kaminski
Kurt Brian Kaminski, 63, of Pahoa, died Oct. 20, 2019, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Woodstock, Ill., he graduated from Pahoa High School and was a general contractor, longtime member of the Puna Lions Club and the Leilani Community Association.
Visitation will be 8:30-9:30 a.m. Nov. 12 at the Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Casual attire.
He is survived by daughter, Megan H. Kaminski of Pahoa; son, Kevin N. Kaminski of Kurtistown; mother of his children, Elaine Kaminski of Kurtistown; brother, Mark (Audrene) Kaminski of Kurtistown; sisters, Karen Hernandez and Mary Kaminski of Houghton, Mich.; one grandson, an uncle and an aunt, numerous cousins in Illinois, a niece, two nephews, a grandniece and two grandnephews.

Kokimi Takaki
Kokimi “Kay” Takaki, 91, of Naalehu, died Sept. 28, 2019, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center in Hilo. Born Jan. 8, 1928, in Pahala, she was a homemaker and member of Naalehu Hongwanji Mission and Buddhist Women’s Association.
Private services were held.
She is survived by husband, Iwao Takaki of Naalehu; son, Rodney Takaki of Pahala; daughters, Nora (Robert) Kaaua of Hilo, June (Albert) Takaki-Garcia of Naalehu; sister, Yuriko Prentice of Texas; a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Clarence Smith
Clarence Edward Smith, 90, of Mountain View, Calif., and formerly of Hawaiian Paradise Park, Keaau died on Sept. 30, 2019, in Mountain View, Calif. Born in Mississippi, he was a retired SMS in the U.S. Air Force, worked as a manufacturing manager and was a member of BIRMA, BIARC (AH7A), HAFCE, QCWA Chapter 194 and VFW Post 3830 (Pahoa).

He is survived by wife, Kay Denise Smith of Mountain View, Calif.; son, Darryl (Martha) E. Smith of San Jose, Calif.; stepson, David H. DiAndria, Jr. of Roseville, Calif.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Michelle V. Cano and step-daughter, Janine L. Gates.

Edwina “Winnie” Nyuk How Booth, 91, of Kamuela, died Oct. 4, 2019, at her residence. Born Sept. 18, 1928, in Honolulu, she was the owner of the former Ocean View Inn Restaurant and a member of Keola Malamalamalama Church.

Annie Kalikoo’kalani Lee, 75, of Kailua-Kona, died Oct. 15, 2019, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born March 19, 1944 in Honolulu, she worked and retired as a hostess at King Kamehameha Hotel in Kailua-Kona.

Sumiko “Sumi” Miyamoto, 92, of Pahoa, died Oct. 21, 2019, at home. Born March 7, 1927, in Pahoa, she was an anthurium and papaya farmer and member of Puna Hongwanji Mission, Buddhist Women’s Association, Kyu Pahoa Kumiai, Pahoa Nikkei Jin Kai, ILWU Bowling Club and P&R Bowling Club.
