Claypool new Hilton Waikoloa Village director of spa and recreation

Hilton Waikoloa Village announced Brandon Claypool as the resort’s new director of spa and recreation. In his new role, Claypool will lead Hilton Waikoloa Village’s Kohala Spa. Under his direction, he will review the current spa operations and offerings and will work alongside the Kohala Spa team to enhance guest experience.

Claypool has more than 20 years of experience working in hospitality, with 17 years focused in spa operations. In his most recent role as spa and recreation director at the Moana Surfrider, Claypool was responsible for day to day operations, as well as budgeting, forecasting, marketing, retail and the creation of new service offerings and service menus.

Outside of the islands he was previously with The Ritz Carlton’s South Beach and St. Thomas properties as spa, fitness and retail director. Alongside his background in hospitality, Claypool has a personal training certification and massage therapy licenses in multiple states.

“Brandon has both a commercially driven and creative focus, and I am very much looking forward to how the future of our spa and recreation services will continue to excel under his leadership,” said Simon Amos, hotel manager at Hilton Waikoloa Village.

Proactive steps to eliminate business anxieties

The West Hawaii Small Business Development Center will be offering a workshop, “The Entrepreneur Mindset: Proactive Steps to Eliminate Business Anxieties and Quiet your Inner Critic” 9-11:30 a.m. Thursday at Hale Iako in Suite 119, 73-970 Makako Bay Drive in Kailua-Kona, on the NELHA (OTEC) campus.

Business owners, managers and executives deal with dozens of responsibilities daily: hiring, firing, managing staff, increasing revenue, decreasing expenses, making it through the day, planning for the future and on and on. We all get plagued by the whispering gremlins of self-doubt (“I’m going to fail, and fail badly”); impostor syndrome (“who am I to do this?”); overwhelm (“there’s so much to do and I don’t know where to start”), and anxiety (“nothing is ever going to work out!”).

This workshop will arm you with the tools to embrace the uncertainty, recognize the gremlins when they appear, and even turn them to your advantage. Attendees will leave with simple actions that will positively impact their day-to-day.

Guest speaker, Alex Mitchell, is a successful business coach and business development strategist in Kailua-Kona.

Registration is $20 and space is limited. Register online at www.hisbdc.org, or call 333-5000 for more information.
