Parking ticket praise

I would like to thank the Hawaii County Police Officers, who were involved with ticketing and clearing the illegally parked vehicles along Palani Road on Saturday.

As anyone who has ever traveled Palani Road above the Henry Street intersection knows, this road is too narrow to support parking. Vehicles parking partially on the roadway, obscuring the shoulder white line, is dangerous and stupid. Doing so puts walkers, and other drivers at risk.

Thank you, officers, you get a well done from me!

Ironman important, but not that important

I returned home Saturday afternoon from an arduous mainland trip only to find the Ironman race had virtually shut down our airport. Hundreds of cars and thousands of residents and visitors were stranded for hours as exiting traffic backed up three lanes wide (four, if you count the rental shuttle lane) all the way back to the Alaska Air counter, creeping to Queen Kaahumanu Highway, subject only to gaps between bike riding contestants allowing drivers to proceed toward Kaiminani Drive.

While I certainly appreciate the value of the economic infusion and notoriety the race brings to Kona, we cannot allow such a disruption to the local populace and our other (just as) economically valuable visitors to happen again.

No race can justify closing down airport access for everyone else. Local and race officials need to seriously rethink this routing for the future.

A case of TDS

It is clear that Morgan Myrmo of Oahu has discovered “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

This state of mind has been around for man years known as “mortality and integrity,” to put it into words that are unknown by Mr. POTUS and the followers of his blunerbuss.

My “Trump Syndrome” began when the truth was broadcast by companies whos sole existence is to report the truth and be accountable for their stories.

Yeah, I’ve got “Myrmo Syndrome” and I don’t need any cure. We just need to grab the handle and flush 45.
