Man, 69, killed in tractor accident in Paauilo

KAILUA-KONA — A 69-year-old man was killed Tuesday afternoon after his tractor rolled over while working in a residential backyard in Paauilo.

Hawaii Fire Department personnel responded to the 4:27 p.m. and arrived 13 minutes later at a Kaapahu Road home to find the man pinned by the tractor after a “roll over event,” according to a media release. The man had no signs of life.

The fire department said the Jaws of Life and life bags had to be used in order to get the victim out from beneath the tractor.

The scene was turned over to the Hawaii Police Department for further investigation. No additional information was immediately available Wednesday morning.
