Group hike in South Kona
E Mau Na Ala Hele is planning to lead two hikes in the immediate future.
The first will be Oct. 20, celebrating Trails Revitalization Day, commemorating the Highways Act of 1892 that have kept trails and access open over the years. Guide Roy Santana will lead the group on the Moku’Ohai Trail in South Kona. Along this trail is where the first battle of Kiwala’o and Kamehameha was fought and a dynasty was born.
Meet on Highway 160 (Keala o Keawe Road) just before entrance to Puuhonua o Honaunau at 9 a.m. The hike will be approximately 1 1/2 miles. Be sure to bring enough water, trail snacks
