Let’s recycle together,
assuming they show up to work
Since the employees of our recycling and transfer stations deem it fair to be away from their positions more often than not, and since it appears the failing of our recycling system is based not so much on the “drying up of markets” but of our unacceptable, unusable collections, maybe a basic lesson could be approached: Absent employees could still keep their jobs if they were to provide “recycling lessons on site.”
You know, train us lazy-ass dumb-bells on how to separate paper from cans, plastics from glass, cardboard from refuse, lids from containers, etc. Maybe even get the stuff into the right containers?
Tough call, huh? Maybe we all could become responsible, even cooperative, with our purchasing partners.

is so yesterday
In regards to Saturday’s article on west side lawmakers being mostly quiet about Maunakea, to paraphrase Graham Nash, “Political madness is killing our country.”
From Republicans in Congress all the way down to our state and county representatives, almost no one dares to put their next election in jeopardy. No one from Trump and the Republicans to our governor and mayor, no one wants to do their job and uphold the law and the Constitutions to which they have sworn their allegiance. The United States, the State of Hawaii and Hawaii County appear to be ships without captains at their helms.

Obenski rant
was too much
Once again, I write to WHT concerning Obenski’s use of his biweekly column to barrage what few conservative readers are left, with his pure liberal rant. If WHT feels he is representative of their views, they should confirm it by way of titling it an editorial. At least some readers will feel vindicated in their criticism of WHT’s clearly liberal bias.
If WHT was truly serious about creating a sense of being an even handed publication, it would produce a biweekly conservative article in the weeks intervening the Obenski columns. How about issuing an invitation to WHT readers to apply for a conservative biweekly column? If there is no response, why not publish a nationally syndicated conservative columnist?
By the way, Obenski’s comment, “and get reelected maybe more than once” is either his closing cryptic comment, or shows lack of understanding of the 22nd Amendment.
