Caridad Rufo
Caridad Rosalie Talaro Rufo, 83, of Waimea, died June 10, 2019, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Haina Camp, on the Hamakua Coast, she was a retired school teacher with the Department of Education and taught at Paauilo, Honokaa and Waimea public schools and was a member of Saint James Parish in Waimea and Saint Columba Church in Paauilo.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Oct. 12 at Saint James Episcopal Church in Waimea for a 10 a.m. service. In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts may be made to Saint Columba Kitchen Fund, PO Box 760519, Paauilo, HI 96776.
She is survived by daughters, Jada Rufo, Melanie (David “Noah” Fiorello) Rufo and Sian (Kenneth Jr.) Urbanozo of Waimea; brothers, George (Kiyoe) Talaro of Kaneohe, Oahu, Peter (Jean) Talaro of Gardena, Calif., Stanley (Evangeline) Talaro of Waimea; sisters, Norma (Walter Blomberg III) Talaro of Woodburn, Ore., Stella (Rick) Meinzer of Corvallis, Ore.; two grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Tomie Miyashiro
Tomie Miyashiro, 90, of Hawi, died Sept. 10, 2019, at Nakamaru Hale in Kona. Born Oct. 26, 1928, in Kohala, she was retired from Kohala Nursery and a member of Kohala Jodo Mission, Kohala Okinawa Kenjin Kai and Kohala Senior Citizens.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.
She is survived by daughters, Joan (Frank, Jr.) Caravalho of Kohala, Aileen Lui Kwan of Oahu, Caroline (Bert) Imada of Honokaa, Cindy (Michael) Odo of Oahu; brother, Shotoku Nakasato of Kaneohe, Oahu; sister, Janet Shizuko Kimura of Sacramento, Calif.; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Emma Corpuz
Emma Gliceria Ancheta Corpuz, 68, of Hilo, died Sept. 11, 2019, at residence. Born on May 13, 1951, in La Union, Philippines, she was a nutrition aide for the state of Hawaii and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.
Friends may call 5-6 p.m. Oct. 6 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 6 p.m. wake service. Friends may call again 8-10 a.m. Oct. 7 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. celebration of Mass. Casual attire. Burial is at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section.
She is survived by husband, Abelardo “Larry” Corpuz of Hilo; son, Clifford (Reynelyne) Corpuz of Hilo; daughter, Cherie L.C. (Danny) Patel of Hilo; brother, Leo (Nathy) Ancheta of Hilo; sister, Priscilla Evangelista of Hilo; three grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
