Amy Aihara
Amy Kimiko Aihara, 83, of Hilo, died Aug. 2, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 5, 1936, in Honolulu, she was retired from Easter Seals and a member of Arise Church.
Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 25 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by son, Keith (Jill) Aihara of Seattle; daughter, Lori (Alvin) Sugiyama of Hilo; sisters-in-law, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Mattie Soultz
Mattie Sewako Soultz, 86, of Henderson, Nev. and formerly of Hilo, died July 25, 2019, in Henderson, Nev. Born in Kealakekua, she was a retired registered nurse for Hilo Hospital and a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force where she served as a nurse, a former member of the Women’s 800 Bowling League and the Hilo Nissei Bowling Club.
Services to be held in Nevada at a later date.
She is survived by daughter, Sandra Soultz of Henderson, Nev.; son, Paul (Lorena) Soultz of Hilo; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Elviera Okodo
Elviera “Candy” Okodo, 72, died Aug. 18, 2019, in Hilo. Born Nov. 3, 1945, Candy worked at LAX airport and Hilo Quality Cleaners but was well known in the area of pharmaceutical sales.
A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 28 at Hawaiian Village in Keaukaha (Puhi Bay by bathrooms). Please bring old photos and stories of Candy to share with her ohana.
She is survived by son, Zachary Pau of Oahu; brothers, John (Lorraine) Nobriga of Hilo, Patrick (Evelyn) Nobriga of Mountain View, Frank Nobriga and Mac Leroy Nobriga of Hilo; sisters, Shirley Allen of Los Angeles and Louella Wallace of Oahu; four granddaughters; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew and cousins.

Karley Rose
Karley Kau’ilani Rose, 20, of Hawaiian Beaches, died Aug. 21, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 2, 1998, in Hilo, she was a Class of 2017 graduate from Kua O Kala Charter School.
Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. Sept. 29 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo, for a 10 a.m. celebration of life. Casual attire.
She is survived by companion, Kameron Marquez of Hawaiian Beaches; daughter, Kahiapo’okeahipalio kekaiopuna K. Diane “Rocky” Sherwood Holck, 71, of Captain Cook, died Aug. 4, 2019, at her residence. Born July 29, 1948 in Kentfield, Calif., she was a commercial fisherman, poet and writer.

Christopher Ryan Sugimoto, 38, of Hilo, died Sept. 11, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hayward, Calif., he was a police officer with the Hawaii Police Department for five years after graduating in 2008 from San Jose State University with a B.S. in Justice Studies.
