Nancy Spinney
Nancy May Wynne Spinney, 81, of Waikoloa, died Aug. 6, 2019, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born May 14, 1938, in Honolulu, she worked in the travel and hospitality industry for various hotels including, Waikiki Biltmore, Keauhou Beach Hotel and Kona Lagoon Hotel. She was an ambassador of aloha and most dedicated to her role as mother and kupuna.
A celebration of life will be held 10 a.m. Aug. 31 at the family residence in Waikoloa. Service at 11 a.m. with lunch to follow at noon. Please contact the family for information.
She is survived by sons, William Blankenfeld of Kealakekua, Bruce (Lita) Blankenfeld of Niu Valley, Kimo (Mahealani) Peleiholani-Blankenfeld of Kalapana, Patrick Blankenfeld of Niu Valley; daughters, Kaiulani Blankenfeld of Waikoloa, Tita Blankenfeld of Honolulu, Shelby Kekuku of Waikoloa; sister, Marion Tita Morrison of Kaneohe; hanai daughter, Cory (Sanford) Nojima; 21 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Bruce Bernard
Bruce “Batman” Wayne Bernard, 74 of Hilo, died May 28, 2019, at home. Born on May 24, 1945, on Oahu, he was a retired carpenter.
Bruce is survived by wife Virginia Bernard of Hilo; sons, Bruce Bernard Jr. of Seattle, Anthony Bernard of San Francisco, Moses Bernard ll of Waianae; daughters, Charing Bernard of San Diego, Jadelyn Gomez of Madeira; sisters, Puaala Bonomi of Kailua-Kona, Johneete (William) Alderson of Arkansas; 26 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alvin Izumi
Alvin Haruo Izumi, 73, of Kailua-Kona, died Aug. 13, 2019, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Jan. 18, 1946, in Kealakekua, he was a former pet care representative for Petco, a retired meat cutter for ChoiceMart in Kealakekua and a former meat cutter for Kamigaki Market.

James Beimborn
James Robert Beimborn, 84, of Honaunau, died Aug. 10, 2019, at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 23, 1935, in Green Bay, Wisc., he was an architect and a U.S. Air force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Sami Beimborn of Honaunau; son, Shayne (Mani) Beimborn of Las Vegas; brother, Pat (Diane) Beimborn of Green Bay, Wisc.; sister, Carol Beimborn of Green Bay, Wisc.; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Helene B. Snedeker, 85, of Keaau, died July 14, 2019, at Pohai Malama. Born on Jan. 1, 1943, in Germany, she was a retired housekeeper.

Robert Bruce Eck, 75, of Keaau, died Aug. 12, 2019, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in New Jersey, he was a blackjack dealer for the former Sands Hotel &Casino in Las Vegas.

Bert Kanoa
Bert Kanoa, 73, of Kailua-Kona, died Aug. 12, 2019, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born June 21, 1946, in South Hilo, he was a bus driver for Robert’s Hawaii and Grayline; and a groundskeeper at the former Kona Surf Resort.
Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Aug. 31 at Lanihau Ranch on Henry Street across from Crossroads Professional Building in Kailua-Kona. Celebration of life will begin at 10 a.m. Casual attire.
