Carma Comendant
Carma J. Comendant, 94, of Captain Cook, died June 19, 2019, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born on April 20, 1925, in Sandy, Utah, she was a legal secretary, was active in many clubs and organizations.
Private services were held.
She is survived by daughter, Karen (Richard) Harrison of Captain Cook; one grandson; and two cousins.

Juanita Gonsalves
Juanita Helen Gonsalves, 75, of Hilo, died April 30, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Honolulu.
A graveside urn committal service will be held from 11 a.m. to noon July 11 at Hawaiian Memorial Park in Kaneohe, Garden of Paradise; Potluck to follow at Kualoa Beach Park. Flowers are welcomed.
She is survived by daughters, Juanita Salsedo, Robette Grammer, Lolita Tenele Grammer, Nora Fernandez Grammer, Evelyn Jardine, Gina Gonsalves and Linda Mejia Gonsalves; sons, Franklin Grammer Jr., Robert Andrew, Quinones Grammer, Edward Grammer and Albert Grammer; brothers, Nelson Keller, Elmer Gene Keller, William Keller, Robert Keller and Manny Keller; sister, Rosie Doris Hernandez Keller; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

John De Conte Jr.
John De Conte Jr. 92, of Laupahoehoe, died May 22, 2019, in Hilo. Born Oct. 6, 1926, in Hilo, he was a retired cultivation supervisor for the former Hamakua Sugar Company, a retired US Army veteran of World War II and a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Laupahoehoe.
Friends may call 8:30-9:45 a.m. July 15 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Laupahoehoe for a 10 a.m. celebration of Mass. Casual attire. Burial is at noon at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by daughters, Diane De Luz of Paauilo and Nancy (Norman, III) Wassman of Hilo; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters in-law; numerous nieces and nephews.

Antonio Ventura
Antonio Cabigas Ventura, 72, of Keaau, died June 29, 2019, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born Feb. 19, 1947, in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a housekeeping maintanence worker for a hotel in Waikoloa.
Friends may call 9-10 a.m. July 10 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 10 a.m. funeral service. Casual attire, flowers and lei are welcomed. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery, new section.
He is survived by sons, Anthony Kay of Ainaloa and Alan Ventura of Hawaiian Paradise Park; brothers, Alfred (Consuelo) Ventura of Keaau, Norberto (Josefina) Ventura, Delfin (Crisanta) Ventura and Modesto Ventura of Kaloli, Melvyn (Fely) Ventura of Honolulu; sisters, Carlina Ramelb of Kaloli and Susan Ventura Andres of California; six grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces.

Ralph Alapai
Ralph Kanowena Alapai, 72, of Kailua-Kona, died May 20, 2019, at his residence. Born Sept. 1, 1946, in Kealakekua, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for Maryl Construction, West Hawaii Concrete, E.M. Rivera &Sons; a cowboy at Puuwaawaa Ranch; a member of Civitan Club and Labor Union #368.
Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. July 20 at Makolea, site of the Old Kona Lagoon Hotel. Memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.
He is survived by sons, John (Phyllis) Alapai of Kealakekua, Kekio (Harmony) Alapai of Keaau, William (Lavern) Alapai of Kealakekua; hanai son, Leroy Funk of Louisville, Ken.; daughter, Courtney Alapai of Kahaluu; sisters, Ivy Kizler of California and Velma Kauahi of Kahaluu; hanai brothers, Wayne (Cami) Kahulamu of Kealakehe, Mitchell (Joanne) Fujisaka of Kailua-Kona; hanai sister, Margaret (Larry) Jose of Holualoa; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous hanai grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; one aunt.
