Maunakea Forest Reserve hearing scheduled
Lands in the Mauna Kea Forest Reserve are proposed to be withdrawn and set aside to the County of Hawaii and the Department of Transportation. A 2.9-acre and 32.572-acre parcel are being proposed for withdrawal from the State Forest Reserve System. The DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) is inviting community comments on the two proposed withdrawals.
Interested people are invited to attend a public hearing at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Hawaii Island DOFAW Conference Room, 19 E. Kawili St., Hilo. People unable to attend or who want to provide additional comments can submit written testimony postmarked no later than July 10 to the Forestry Program Manager, Division of Forestry and Wildlife, 1151 Punchbowl St., #325, Honolulu, HI, 96813; or by email to Forestry@hawaii.gov.
Matsuda graduates Carleton College
Daniel Matsuda, of Waimea, graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., on June 15. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Asian studies, and was among 459 to graduate with the Carleton Class of 2019.
