KAILUA-KONA — Free and for all bodies.
Even if you haven’t practiced yoga before and don’t considered yourself flexible, you’re invited to join a team of at-ease spirits and stretch in honor of International Yoga Day.
Hawaii Beach Yoga is hosting the free community yoga class from 9:30-10:30 this morning on the lawn of Hale Halawai.
“We simply want the community to experience yoga because it is good exercise for our bodies and our minds and we think every one benefits from the practice,” said Celeste Cline, Hawaii Beach Yoga instructor who has organized the class for the last four years. “The event is also a good way to put the local yoga community in touch with the local yoga studios and businesses.”
Open to everyone, it’ll will be led by several yoga teachers from different local studios, and schools.
Food is being donated by Poi Dog Deli, and other local businesses that are offering their support include: Shambhava Yoga Konalani Ashram, The Yoga Nest, Green Flash Coffee, and Yoga Hale.
International Day of Yoga is celebrated annually June 21 since its inception in 2015. The day was declared unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly and June 21 was selected, in part, because it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares a special significance in many parts of the world.
