KAILUA-KONA — A man is facing assault charges after a reported stabbing late Thursday in Kalaoa that sent two men to the hospital.
Jared Dunn, 39, of Kailua-Kona, was charged Friday afternoon with two counts second-degree assault in connection with the incident that occurred around 9:15 p.m. in Kalaoa.
Police were called to the scene at an Ahililani Street address to a reported assault. Upon arrival, officers discovered two Kailua-Kona men with injuries to their head and face consistent with a stabbing.
The men, ages 25 and 62, were transported to Kona Community Hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police took Dunn into custody on suspicion of assault at the scene, and confined him to the Kona Police station, while the investigation continued.
Also arrested at the scene on a $750 bench warrant was Sophia Sacay, a 42-year-old woman also from Kailua-Kona.
Dunn was charged by police at 12:50 p.m. Friday with the two class C felonies. He remained in police custody in lieu of $10,000 pending an initial court appearance Monday.
Second-degree assault is punishable by up to five years imprisonment and a fine up to $10,000, according to Hawaii Revised Statutes.
