Elaine Abraham

Elaine Evelyn Abraham, 78, of Captain Cook, died April 18, 2019, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born in Paia, Maui on May 28, 1940, she was a coffee farmer, a manager at Liana of Hawaii, a volunteer at the Hawaii Food Bank and a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held at 8:30 a.m. May 25 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Honaunau. Mass will begin at 9:30 a.m. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

Survived by her son, Robert (Josette) Abraham of Waikoloa; daughter, Melody (Jim) Summey of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Ronald Okada, Gary (Honey) Okada, Stanley Okada of Oahu, and Myron Okada of Captain Cook; sisters, Patricia (Hal) Summers of San Diego, Janet Wroten and Clara (Terry) Brooks of Honaunau, Juanita Jones of Texas, and Agnes Emerling of Kona; one grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Venerando Utrera

Venerando “Tata” “Vinny” Viloria Utrera, 77, of Kailua-Kona, died April 12, 2019, at his residence. Born on Nov. 14, 1941, in San Vicente, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a cook at the former Kona Lagoon Hotel, former Pottery Steakhouse and Big Island Grill, and also was a deli worker at KTA and a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

An all-night vigil will begin at 6 p.m. May 24 at his residence at 75-5943 Pamalo Place in Kailua-Kona. Visitation will continue at 9 a.m. May 25 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Alii Drive. Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

Survived by his sons, Melvin Utrera and Marlon (Elizabeth) Utrera of Kailua-Kona, Venerando (Arlene) Utrera, Jr. of Maui, Miguel (Jocelyn) Utrera of Philippines and Miller Utrera of San Jose, Calif.; daughters, Madeline (Patrick) Rigler of Maui and Minda (Alan) Cooksey of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Otilio Utrera and Juvencio (Elnora) Utrera of Arizona, Benito Utrera and Jose (Amelia) Utrera of Kailua-Kona; sister, Virginia (Marciano) Tabios of Kailua-Kona; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sean Barry

Sean Barry, 81, of Waimea, died May 8, 2019 at home. Born Nov. 20, 1937, in Ireland, he was a retired chef.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. May 18 at Imiola Congregational Church in Waimea, Church Row, for a 10 a.m. service. The family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by siblings, Colum (Rita) Barry of Alberta, Canada, Lyla Anglin of Waikoloa, Gina (Harry) Kawai of Waimea; nieces and nephews.

Jeffrey Caylor

Jeffrey Max Caylor, 66, of Waikoloa, died Jan. 17, 2019, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 9, 1952, in Bellevue, Penn., he was a shuttle driver for Hilton Grand Vacations and a retired information technology analyst for Delta Airlines.

Odin Kauhi

Odin Sanoe Kam Chan Kauhi, 38, of Captain Cook, died May 6, 2019, at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu on Jan. 23, 1981, he was a security officer at HPA, a member of Boy Scouts of America and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Keei Ward.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. May 18 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kailua-Kona. Funeral service will begin at noon followed by burial at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. The family requests aloha attire and flowers are welcome.

He is survived by his wife, Adrianne Kauhi of Captain Cook; daughter, Anuhea Kauhi of Captain Cook; parents, Thompson and Denise Kauhi of Kailua-Kona; brother, Ian Kauhi of Seattle; maternal grandmother, Vola McGwin of Utah; maternal grandfather, Walter (Lucy) Jung of Honolulu; parents-in-law; one sister-in-law; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
