Pearl Kaoiwi
Pearl “Pearlie” Haleakala Kaoiwi, 88, of Hilo, died March 27, 2019, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born March 31, 1930, in Hilo, she was retired from Life Care Center of Hilo and a member of Glad Tidings Church.
Private services were held.
She is survived by sons, Albert (Irene) Kauwe of Oahu, Johnson Kahili and Malcolm (Jovey) Kahili of Hilo; daughters, Pearl “Elena” Macomber of Hilo, Joanne (Joseph) Pinkowski and Susie Ann (Louis) Quintans of Oklahoma, Johnette Yoshizumi of Sacramento, Calif., Norelle Kaoiwi of Hilo; 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dale DePeel
Dale Larry DePeel, 81, of Pahoa, died April 9, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center from complications of a stroke. Born in Yoncalla, Oregon, he was a Tri-Met bus driver in Portland, Oregon. After his retirement he chose beautiful Hawaii as his home.
A private celebration of his life will be held.
He is survived by daughter, Terri Yamauchi of Lake Forest, Illinois; brother, Mearl DePeel of Nebraska; sister, Laura Bell Garrison of Oregon; the Gonsalves Ohana; numerous nieces and nephews.

Owen F. Koehnen
Owen F. Koehnen, 67, of Hilo, died April 3, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo in Sept. 1951, he was a Hawaii Preparatory Academy graduate, a Navy Vietnam War veteran, United States Postal Service retiree, and an active member and pillar of the Honolii Paka and surf community. His last successful project was the Kaipalaoa Landing Park also known as the Hilo Lighthouse on Bayfront.
A celebration of life service will be held June 22, 2019 in the upper level of Mokupapapa Discovery Center (the old Koehnen Ltd. building) in downtown Hilo. Service time to be announced at a later date. Online condolences: www.homelanimemorialpark.com.
He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Koehnen; three daughters, Pelehua (Pati) Koehnen-Sua, Tia (Alex) Ora-a, and Kamalei (Ross) Ebenez; three sisters, Lynne Forbes, Helie (Rocky) Rock, and Kristi (Gary) Robinson; significant other, Deborah Billings; an aunt, two cousins, and nine grandchildren.

Anthony Medeiros
Anthony Jesse Barnard “Sonny” Medeiros, of Keaau, died Jan. 22, 2019, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born on April 8, 1947, in Ola’a, he was an Army Vietnam veteran, former butcher at Miko Meats, former harvester at Keaau Banana, and a member of Pig Hunters of Hawaii.
A celebration of life to be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 28 at Shipman Park, Keaau.
He is survived by sons, Daniel Anthony Medeiros of Kurtistown; daughters, Bridgette Rose (David) Santiago of Glenwood, Joycelyn Sarah (Curtis) DeLima of Kurtistown,; brothers, William (Lynn) Medeiros of Keaau, Nicholas (Kennedy-Ann) Medeiros of Oahu; sisters, Marie Young of Maryland, Junelle (Robert) Blas of Keaau; nine grandchildren.

Timothy Crumby
Timothy (Timmy) Carl Crumby born April 19, 1963, in Southern California, died Jan. 18, 2019. He was 55. He was an avid surfer and waterman. He was a skilled tile setter in Kona for 30 years.
A memorial and paddle out will be held at 11 a.m. April 20 in Surfside, Calif., in front of the Coghill’s B36, on the beach in front of A36.
He is survived by wife, Debra; daughters, Tara (Pierce), and Haley (Christian); brother, Ronny; hanai son/nephew Brandon, one cousin; many in-laws; and numerous friends and surf brothers.

Francisco Ramo
Francisco “Frank” “Cisco” Ramos, 70, of Hilo, died Feb. 4, 2019, on Oahu. Born on Nov. 20, 1948, in Wahiawa, he was a retired nuclear inspector for Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.
Visitation will be held from 4-5 p.m. April 20 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo. A celebration of life memorial service begins at 5 p.m. Inurnment at Punchbowl on Oahu will be at a later date. Casual/Hawaiian attire and no flowers.
He is survived by life partner and fiancée, Lorna Hanamoto of Hilo; brothers, Alfredo Ramos, Jr. of Oahu and Juan Ramos of Oahu; sisters, Julia Aque of Oahu and Gloria Hipolito of Maryland; half-brother, Alejandro (Masa) Vea of Kauai; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Lawrence Sizar
Lawrence Sizar, 86, of Pahoa, died April 2, 2019, at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired Major with the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #3830.
Private services will be held with inurnment at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery at later date.
He is survived by wife, Edean Sizar of Pahoa; sons, Gary (Rosemary) Sizar of South Point, Steven (Janet) Sizar of Pahoa, Scott (Dominica) Sizar of Pahoa; daughter, Alysha (Joseph Kaneakalau) Sizar of Keaau; sisters, Linda (Tom) Wicks of Nanakuli, Shirley (Ron) Satter of Idaho; brothers, Danny Cabanban of Oahu, Ricardo Cabanban of Oahu; hanai brother, Angel Quisote of Oahu; three grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews.
