Celtica Pipes Rock is back on the Big Island.

With their unique sound of blazing bagpipes, mighty drums and the power of a rock band, Celtica takes by storm all audiences from Highland Games and town festivals, to bankers and punk rockers. In addition to their high-energy music, fire effects and flamethrowers on their instruments are often used in their shows. It’s an event that’s sure to please all.

The band consists of Gajus Stappen, electric guitar and drumming; Jane Espie, Great Highland bagpipe; Duncan Knight, Great Highland bagpipe; Harald Weinkum, bass and drumming; and Matthias Katzmair, drums.

Celtica’s Big Island show will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Honokaa People’s Theatre. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.

Big Island ticket outlets include: Kona Music Exchange, Kiernan Music; Waimea General Store — Parker Square; Top Stitch; Hilo Ukulele and Guitar; Hilo Music Exchange; and Rogers Guitars in Keaau.

“Steamphonia,” the upcoming fourth album from Celtica, takes the listener across time to the Victorian age. Celtica transforms this fantastic epoch into music distilled from gothic, steampunk, and metal styles to break all the traditional limits of the Great Highland bagpipe, and creates a totally new musical context for this majestic instrument.

The new album “Steamphonia” will be available in mid-May.

Celtica has previously performed on the Big Island last year, also at Honokaa People’s Theatre.
