Donald’s diaper
The daily news from Washington, D.C. shows a need for a new adult-sized hygiene product. Our politicians have created a need for an adult diaper that fits over their mouths.
That way all the excrement some special leaders have flowing from their pie holes won’t get on their fancy suits.
We could call the new diaper “the Donald” for the biggest producer in D.C. of product only fit for the toilet.

Time for lottery
Hugo von Platen Luder is right on as to Hawaii adopting a lottery, $700 million left on the table isn’t chump change. The state has already legalized marijuana to some degree. Where’s the difference?
All that is needed is for it to be put to a vote. As Mr. von Platen Luder says, “it’s time to lighten out tax burden. If not, it is only going to get worse” and that is the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
The one monstrous problem that I can see is with the lottery monies. The state can’t seem to even handle the funding of a rail system. How and who would be able to handle a sum in the hundreds of millions of dollars to be generated by a lottery?
Oh well, don’t get excited about such things that make sense like a lottery to lighten the load on us, the taxpayers. It will never happen. Why? Because it’s up to the politicians to save us money and when have you ever seen that happen?
We peons don’t have a say in anything that matters in our lives when politics become involved. Let’s get this on the ballot!

Take our money and run
In the March 20 West Hawaii Today, County managing director Wil Okabe extols great opportunity for citizens of Hawaii in the arrival of Southwest Airlines. However, Okabe goes on to state how local infrastructure needs to be a county focus to accommodate more visitors. In the same sentence he immediately turns his focus to a need to develop accommodations on the island’s east side otherwise visitors will be coming to Kona. What?!
After decades of West Hawaii being the cash cow for East Hawaii, wouldn’t we love to have the roads, parks, and municipal golf course that Hilo so much enjoys! West Hawaii, fully expect your tax dollars to support yet another drain from us to build east side infrastructure for tourism accommodations so they don’t have to stay in Kona.
Business as usual, same-ol’, same-ol’ while we get hit with every conceivable tax and fee increase to support the Hilo-centric administration with the council doing its best to kill the cash cow with no concern for internal efficiencies and cost cutting. Billy, while not perfect, did support and was highly visible in West Hawaii. He also emplaced work furloughs and worked hard to limit budget increases. Don’t know what you have till it’s gone. Back to square 1.
