Yoshiko Ikeda

Yoshiko Ikeda, 96, of Honalo, died Jan. 29, 2019, at her residence. Born Dec. 16, 1922, in Hilo, she was a clerk typist at Konawaena High School and member of Honalo No. 1 Kumi, Daifukuji Fujinkai, Zazen Kai, Baikako, Hiroshima Kenjin Kai and Daifukuji Soto Mission Kyodan.

Private services were held.

She is survived by son, Earl (Michelle) Ikeda of Arizona, Warren Ikeda and Greg Ikeda of Honalo; daughter, Lorna (Gene) Takaki of Mililani, Oahu; brothers, George Kurozawa of Capt. Cook, Richard Kurozawa of Connecticut, and Larry (Eleanor) Kurozawa of Denver, Colorado; sister, Chieko Kitaoka of California; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Haunani Ibarra

Haunani Leilani Ibarra, 39, of Ocean View, died Feb. 18, 2019. Born on Jan. 1, 1980 in Hilo, she worked at Dollar Rent a Car in Kailua-Kona, Ocean View Laundromat “The Wash” and Malama Market in Ocean View.

Services will be held on March 15 at Ballard Family Mortuary Hilo, 570 Kinoole St. Visitation at 9 a.m.; service at 10. Casual attire requested; flowers welcome.

She is survived by parents, Felix and Milissa Ibarra of Mark Twain Estates; lifelong partner Shayle Aickin of Ocean View; son Chandler Aickin of Ocean View; daughter Kailee Aickin of Ocean View; brothers Bronson (Troy) Ibarra of Kansas, Brandon (Brenda) Ibarra of Kentucky, Bradley (Michelle) Ibarra of S. Kona; sister Faith (Guy) Galimba of Waiohinu; hanai brother Tonga Tauteoli Jr. of Utah; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Herbert Diama

Herbert Diama, 91, of Hilo died Feb. 20, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Papaikou, he was a retired meteorologist with the U.S. Weather Bureau, employed at the Veterans Administration and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Private services held.

He is survived by brother, Benjamin Diama of Hilo; sisters, Catherine Campainha and Carol Brown, both of Hilo; numerous nieces and nephews.

Toshiko Okamoto

Toshiko Okamoto, 91, of Hilo, died Feb. 25, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 16, 1927, in Hilo, she was retired and a member of Higashi Hongwanji Mission.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

She is survived by sisters, Chizuko Tarutani of Honolulu and Yoshiko Sasahara of Waipahu, Oahu; nieces and nephews.

Yue Qun Lin

Yue Qun Lin, 54, of Hilo, died Feb. 22, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 6, 1964 in Canton (Guangzhou), China, she worked at 1 Plus 1 Cafe in Hilo.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. March 12 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Burial follows at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by husband, Hung Chong Lam of Hilo; son, Zhian (Risa Watabiki) Lin of Hilo; brothers, Ji Qi (Miao Xian) Lin and Ji Xiang (Hui Ling) Lin of China; sister, Yue Fang Lin of China; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ellen Nunes

Ellen Lucy (Gravela) Nunes, 75, of Oakland, Calif., died died Feb. 6, 2019, at Highland Hospital. Born in Pahala, she was a graduate of Ka’u High and retired from Nordstrom Rack department store.

Service at Ballard Family Mortuary on March 16. Visitation at 9 a.m, service at 10. Lunch to follow. Casual attire; flower and lei welcome.

She is survived by sons John (Ohnnmar Lee) Nunes IV of Oakland, Joshua (Elisa) Nunes of Waikoloa; daughters Deanna (Brian) Brown of Hilo, Teri Nunes of Pepeekeo, Lucy (Ken Moniz) and two babies Jack and Hoku Nunes of Oakland; brothers Prudencio Gravela of Naalehu, Glenn Gravela Sr. of Naalehu Leslie (Dee) Gravela of Naalehu, Francis (Carol Kekauoha) Gravela, Lawrence (Tracy) Gravela of Keaau; sisters Mary Peralta of Pahala, Eleanor (Jim) Talich of Kwajalein, Frieda Lee of Hilo, Bernice (Christian) Behle of Hilo, Salome (Shannon) Horiuchi of Hilo, Lordes (Steve) Kornelson of Georgia, Mellissa (Felix) Ibarra of Waiohino, Elizabeth (Catalino) Alcordo of Mililani; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
