KAILUA-KONA — Lane closures are planned islandwide as state crews repair and stripe roads and landscape shoulders.
Alternating lane closures are planned in both directions on Mamalahoa Highway, also known as Highway 190, in the Kalaoa area of North Kona for landscaping and shoulder work, the state Department of Transportation. The work taking place in the vicinity of mile markers 31 and 33 is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Friday.
In Kailua-Kona, alternating lane closures are planned in both directions on Queen Kaahumanu Highway, also known as Highway 19, between Makala Boulevard and Henry Street for striping work. Work is scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday.
Farther north on Queen Kaahumanu Highway, alternating lane closures are planned in both directions in the vicinity of mile markers 91 and 93 for landscaping and shoulder work. Work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Friday.
In North Kohala, an Alternating lane closure will be in place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Friday on Akoni Pule Highway, also known as Highway 270, in both directions in the vicinity of mile markers 21 and 23 in Kapaau for landscaping and shoulder work.
On Kohala Mountain Road, also known as Route 250, an alternating lane closure in both directions will be in effect in the vicinity of mile markers 3 and 4 in Kapaau for landscaping and shoulder work. Work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Friday.
In Ka‘u, an alternating lane closure will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Friday on Hawaii Belt Road, also known as Highway 11, between mile markers 56 and 58 in Pahala for landscaping and shoulder work.
Lane closures are also planned on the highway in both directions between mile markers 56 and 57 in the vicinity of Punaluu Black Sand Beach for grading, hauling, and construction of temporary bridges. The speed limit has been reduced to 25 mph at both bridges. Work continues through Friday.
In Hamakua, alternating lane closures are planned in both directions on Hawaii Belt Road, also known as Highway 19, in the vicinity of mile markers 33 to 36 in the Paauilo area for landscaping. Work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Friday.
In Puna, alternating lane closure continue on Mamalahoa Highway, also known as Highway 11, in both directions in the vicinity of mile marker 29.3 near Hawaii Volcanoes National Park for road repairs. Work is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Wednesday.
Alternating lane closure are also planned on Volcano Road in both directions in the vicinity of mile markers 13 and 16 on from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Friday for landscaping and shoulder work.
In North and South Hilo, multiple alternating lane closures are planned in both directions on Hawaii Belt Road, also known as Highway 19:
• In the vicinity of mile markers 26.5 to 27.5 at Laupahoehoe Gulch for landscaping and shoulder work. Work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Friday.
• In the vicinity of mile marker 3.6 in Wainaku from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for road repairs.
• Between mile markers 7 and 10 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for roadway paving.
