Halau Kalaakeakauikawekiu fundraiser concert

Join Halau Kalaakeakauikawekiu at its fundraiser concert, 1:30 p.m. Feb. 16 for its inaugural invitation to the 56th annual Merrie Monarch Hula Festival 2019.

Tickets can be obtained by calling Kumu Aloha at 989-4616. The entertainment lineup includes Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winning The Lim Family, Na Hoa, Kamaka Kukona and a few special surprises. Celebrity emcees include Hoo Apo and Mileka Lincoln.

The concert will have a country market, a silent auction and halau logo sales. A $25 donation also receives a bowl of puaa kalua and cabbage and rice.

Tropical Paws on March 29

Hawaii Island Humane Society’s 23rd annual Tropical Paws gala takes place March 29 at Four Seasons Resort, Hualalai. The event begins at 6 p.m. and features a cocktail reception, gourmet buffet, live music and dancing along with opportunities to purchase fine collectibles, artwork, hotel stays and more at the abundant silent and invigorating live auctions.

Tickets are $175 per person or $3,000 for a reserved table of 10. Limited tickets are now on sale online at HIHS.org. Sponsor packages are also available and detailed at HIHS.org.

Elks offer scholarships

Applications for the California-Hawaii Elks Major Project Inc. Board of Trustees’ undergraduate scholarships are now open for application. Twenty to 30 scholarships of $1,000-$3,000 will be available. Visit the Elks website at www.chea-elks.org/youth-activities/scholarships to obtain an application packet. Applications should be postmarked on or before March 15.
