Pau hana
series looks at water, energy system’s needs
The State of Hawaii has a mandate of 100 percent renewable energy by 2045; yet is only 20 percent of the way there. “Agriculture, Water, and Energy; A Food Nexus,” takes a path of utilizing our abundant potential for energy generation while increasing food self-reliance.
County Councilman Tim Richards will share a vision for a water and energy system to serve the needs of North Kohala’s residents and agricultural operations.
Richards was re-elected for a second term last year and serves as chair of the Committee on Agriculture, Water, Energy and Environmental Management, and vice chair of the Committee on Finance. He was born and raised in North Kohala and grew up working on his family’s owned and operated Kahua Ranch.
This event is scheduled for Monday at the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority Gateway Center, 73-4485 Kahilihili St. in Kailua-Kona. It includes time before and after the presentation for questions, answers, and networking opportunities.
The program is part of a monthly pau hana series for people interested in technology in West Hawaii.
A potluck is included with the event. Bring pupu and non-alcoholic beverages to share; reusable plates and cups are encouraged.
