Daryl Lopez

Daryl Lynn Lopez, 64 of Kailua-Kona, died Dec. 13, 2018, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born in Pahala on March 31, 1954, he was a construction laborer. He was a cook at Sizzler’s and Bamboo restaurants.

A 1 p.m. celebration of life will be held Feb. 9 at Hale Halawai Center in Kailua-Kona. Casual attire.

He is survived by companion, Jonell Bruno of Kohala; daughters, Georgeann (Carl) Reyes of Kailua-Kona, Naomi (Kili) Kapeliela of Waimea, Staci (Jay-R) Mangauil of Kailua-Kona; hanai son, Mason Botelho-Cookman of Waimea; brothers, Roy (Connie) Lopez of Washington, Decky (Susan) Lopez of Volcano, Cyril (Alyson) Lopez, Sr. of Pahala; sisters, June (Robert) Narito of Ewa Beach, Oahu, Sandi (Chiefy) Ramos and Tacey (Earl) Kakugawa of Ainaloa; one sister-in-law; 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lena Mitchell

Lena Colene Mitchell, 90, of Kurtistown, formerly of Los Angeles, died Jan. 26, 2019, at Arquitola Foster Home in Keaau. Born in Static, Tenn., she was a retired operations manager for Gemini United.

She is survived by daughters, Julie Mitchell of Kurtistown and Gina Reyes of Kailua-Kona; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Steven England

Steven Don England, 70, of Kailua-Kona, died Nov. 12, 2018, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born in California on Nov. 1, 1948, he was a fire watcher for the U.S. Forestry Service.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 31, 2019, at the beach next to Bubba Gump’s Restaurant in Kailua-Kona.

He is survived by his sister, Linda Elliott of Lake Isabella, Calif.; cousin, Barbara Lake of Tatum, N.M.; hanai daughter, Holly Twerdy of Kailua-Kona.

Anson Guitang

Anson Vince Kahlua Guitang, 27, of Kapaau, died Dec. 20, 2018, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Hilo on Feb. 11, 1991, he was an assistant manager for S&L Delivery.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 11 at Keokea beach park in North Kohala. A celebration of life will begin at noon. Casual attire.

He is survived by his wife, Kennylene Guitang of Kapaau; son, Kensonwayne Guitang of Kapaau; father, Gregory Guitang of Kapaau; sisters, Chanice (Krystal Majamay) Guitang, Janise D’amore-Mejia, Lanice Mejia-Kaua, all of Hilo; paternal grandparents, Max and Leo Guitang of Kapaau; maternal grandmother, Stephanie Valant of Hilo; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Katsumi Takamoto

Katsumi Takamoto, 97, of Kainaliu, died Jan. 17, 2019, at her residence. Born in Volcano on Aug. 16, 1921, she was a housewife. She was a member of Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, Kona Machi Gumi and Kumamoto Kenjin Kai.

Private services were held.

She is survived by daughters, Janet Fujikawa of Kainaliu, Sharon Hynynen of St. George, Utah, Judy Amano of Kainaliu; two daughters-in-law; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

Yoshiko Hagino

Yoshiko Hagino, 96, of Hilo, died Nov. 9, 2018, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Mountain View, she was a homemaker.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

She is survived by daughters, Pauline (Carl) Hiraki and Karen (Guy) Fukushima of Hilo; sons, Ronald (Pauline) Hagino of Honolulu, Clyde (Jocita) Hagino of Hilo; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
