Michael Benoit

Michael Clarence Benoit, of Hawi, died Dec. 28, 2018, in Hawi. Born in Lafayette, La., on Nov. 19, 1934, he worked as a plasterer in construction.

He is survived by sons, Michael (Janice) Benoit of Shadow Hills, Calif.; Richard (Sylvia) Benoit of Palmdale, Calif.; daughters, Ingrid (Robert) Clark of Hawi; Anita (Steve) Norman of North Hills, Calif.; Teresa (Michael) Donahue of Little Rock, Calif.; Vickie Edwardson of Fullerton, Calif.; Brenda (Bill) Graves-Leifermen of Palmdale, Calif.; sisters, Rita Harper of North Bend, Wash.; Teresa Sinn of Hunington Beach, Calif.; Priscilla (Chuck) Hiers of Fountain Valley, Calif.; one sister-in-law; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Willis Hall

Willis Marten Hall, of Kailua-Kona, died Dec. 29, 2018, in Kealakekua. Born in Fairplay, Colo., on July 28, 1981, he worked as self-employed in information technology.

He is survived by son, Jesse Hall and daughter, Jasmine Hall both of Kailua-Kona; mother, Margurite (Eric) Hixson of Anchorage, Alaska; father, Marten (Prudence) Hall of Canon City, Colo.; brother, Robert Bailey of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Lanessa (Christopher) Trueblood of Palm Desert, Calif.; Michelle Hall of Canon City, Colo.; Jodi Leynse of Utah and a community of many friends and relatives.

Alice Dean-Daniel

Alice Elaine Dean-Daniel, 77, of Kailua-Kona, died Dec. 22, 2018 at home in Kalaoa. Born Nov.11, 1941, in Portland Ore., she was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Oregon, taught high school history in Minnesota and at Star of the Sea in Honolulu, worked as an aide at the Hawaii State Legislature, helped found “the Mother’s Hui,” served with Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of West Hawaii, Family Support Services of West Hawaii (now Family Support Hawaii), Kona Community Chorus (now Kona Choral Society), Kona Children’s Chorus (now the KCS Youth Chorus), and with the Teshima’s cancer support group as well as the Big Island Friends Meeting.

A community celebration of life may be scheduled at a later date.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Daniel of Kailua-Kona, son, Michael (Gina Reynolds) Daniel of Stanton, Calif., daughter, Sara Daniel of Rockville, Md.; one grandson; several nieces and nephews.

Basilia Respicio

Basilia aka “Bella” Gumtang Respicio, 81, of Hilo, died Dec. 12, 2018, at Hawaii Care Choices Formerly Hospice of Hilo. Born Dec. 2, 1937, in Urdanet, Pangasinan, Philippines, she was a retired cashier for the former Sure Save Super Market in Hawaii and she also was member of the Upper Ainaola Kumiai, Pangasinan Club and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call 5-6 p.m. Jan. 10 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 6 p.m. wake service. Friends may call again 8:30-10:30 a.m. Jan. 11 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Visitation from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for a 10:30 a.m. celebration of Mass. Casual attire. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park (Ilima Section) at 11:30 a.m.

She is survived by son, Rex (Shanessa) Respicio of Hilo; brothers, Julian (Linda) Gumtang and Ariston (Amalia) Gumtang of Philippines; sisters, Maxima Moniz of Philippines, Candida (Renato) Astrande of South Carolina and Isabel (Efren) Belmonte of Las Vegas; four grandchildren.
