Police arrested a 15-year-old boy following a lockdown at Kealakehe High School Friday morning.
Hawaii Police Department Maj. Robert Wagner said police received a report of a “possible weapons incident” at the school, resulting in a lockdown.
The school was placed in a lockdown at 9:10 a.m. “out of an abundance of caution,” said Kealakehe High School principal Glenn Gray in a letter addressed to parents.
No one was found in possession of any weapons during a check at the school, Wagner said. Gray’s letter said the lockdown was lifted at 9:25 a.m. and that police and the school confirmed there “is no imminent threat to the campus.”
Through an investigation, police reportedly learned that a student made a “Comment about bombs during a confrontation with other students.”
As a result, Wagner said, a 15-year-old male student was arrested on suspicion of harassment. The investigation is ongoing.
